The Network of Academic and Scholastic Esports Federations (NASEF) is partnered with PlayVS as the official esports competition platform for the CIF Esports Initiative League. This partnership provides all CIF member schools with access to top titles on the PlayVS platform. For the Fall, PlayVS will power the NASEF CA Fall Open and for the Spring, the CIF Esports Initiative x NASEF League competition season.

Fall ‘24 - Spring ‘25 Seasons
CIF member schools can practice and improve their gameplay before the Spring season by participating in the 8-week NASEF CA Fall Open. We are also excited to announce league play for an additional game title, Mario Kart™ 8 Deluxe!
Note: In the Spring ‘25 Season, NBA2K 25, Madden NFL 25, and Mario Kart are currently Exhibition Titles and will not compete for a CIF Esports Initiative Championship at our in-person event, but will have an online post-season tourney.
Registration for the NASEF CA Fall Open Tournament, powered by PlayVS, is now open!
Important Dates
Registration for the CA Fall Open will open on August 1st.
The CA Fall Open will begin on September 23rd and have playoffs in December.
Teams may join the Fall Open until October 1st!
Registration for the CIF Esports Initiative x NASEF League, which begins in January, will open on October 1st and close on December 13th.
The official CIF Esports Initiative League x NASEF will begin in early January. Fall-registered schools need to register separately for Spring.
Payment Info
The CIF participation fee is $100 per school. Payment is due by December 1st. Details can be found here. This allows schools to enter one varsity team for each game title, as well as an unlimited number of JV & Exhibition teams. For schools paying by check, please contact Chris Fahey for an invoice.
