Alabama Scholastic Esports

At Alabama Aerospace and Aviation High School, I had the opportunity to build an esports program from the ground up. What started as a casual club quickly grew into a competitive program, and today our teams compete across multiple titles including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon 3, Chess, and Street Fighter 6. In just a few years, our players have traveled to national events, earned trophies, and gained experiences that rival traditional sports. More importantly, they have built a culture of teamwork, respect, and dedication that defines who we are. Esports has been a major source of motivation for me as an educator. Watching students progress, challenge themselves, and grow stronger every day keeps me pushing forward. The program not only develops skills in competition but also gives students opportunities and pathways they might not have imagined. What makes esports special is the community it creates. At AAHS, it has become a space for students, parents, and educators to connect through a shared love of gaming and competition. Our goal is to give every player a chance to belong, improve, and pursue opportunities that can carry them into college, careers, and beyond.
